1. Installation

This readme file is one of two files included in a zip file that can be downloaded from the Sim4t web site (http://www.sim4t.com). If you did not obtain the zip file from the Sim4t web site please delete it and download the latest authorised version.

The zip file "Arrhenius.zip" contains the following files:
  "Arrhenius experiment - Readme.txt" - this file
"Arrhenius experiment - Setup.exe" - the installation program

When you run the installation program it will install the application program and support files. It will also setup start memory links for running the program and (optionally) desktop icons for the main supervisor and student entry points.

By default, the software installs to directory "C:\Sim4t\". This can be changed at install time but please be aware that (especially with Windows 7 and later) some directories have access restrictions imposed by the Windows operating system and these can prevent correct operation of the software. To avoid these problems please stick with the default!

2. Files, start menu items and desktop icons

By default the following files are installed:
  "C:\Sim4t\Arrhenius Experiment\S4T_A01.exe" - the program.
  "C:\Sim4t\Arrhenius Experiment\S4T_A01 - getting started.pdf" - a pdf document.
  "C:\Sim4t\Arrhenius Experiment\S4T_A01 - licence.txt" - a text document.
  "C:\Sim4t\Arrhenius Experiment\S4T_A01 - readme.txt" - a copy of this text document.
  "C:\Sim4t\Arrhenius Experiment\Sessions\DEMO.s4t" - a demonstration session

By default, start menu items are created in a group named "Sim4t - Arrhenius Experiment". The following entries are created:
"Arrhenius Student" - starts the program as a student.
"Arrhenius Supervisor" - starts the program as a supervisor.
"Getting Started" - displays brief instructions for running the program.
"Licence Terms" - displays a copy of the software licence.
"Readme" - displays a copy of this readme file.
  "Uninstall" - uninstalls the program.

For convenience, the following desktop icons can optionally be created:
"Arrhenius Student" - starts the program as a student.
"Arrhenius Supervisor" - starts the program as a supervisor.

3. Licence Terms

To install the program you must agree to the licence terms. Please read these before continuing with the installation. The licence terms are displayed every time the program is started unless a licence is purchased. To purchase a licence please email "sales@sim4t.com".

--------------------------------------------------------------------

4. Running the program

You can run the program as either a supervisor or as a student. Please see the "Getting Started" document for further details. However, if you're in a hurry, start the program as a student and enter "DEMO" as the session name followed by the <Enter> key. The DEMO session does not have a password so you can have a play...enjoy.
